                              November Rain

                               Chapter Two

Ashley on a date with Sammy as he proposed to her.......

I breathed in sharply as I shook my head and he could hear it.

Putting his elbows and keys on the table and fingers to his chin and lips, he said, 'Please Ashley! At least say you will think about it,'

Sometimes fairy tales are kind of evil stories for young girls. They convince them of getting a long haired post Prince charming who will come on a white horse. I was convinced that I need not wait for my Prince to come on horse now; but he is right here in front of me, in the corner of a coffee shop asking for my heart.

'I am not sure. Let me get this straight. It would be better if we just remain friends for time being. I haven't decided about my priorities on love as yet. It doesn't make any sense. I don't think that....it would be possible between us. It's too early even to think about it. I got to take a little time, a little time to think things over,'

'No, it's not so soon. I have never felt like this for anyone before. I would take good care of it if you decide to give it back to me; and that is your love. Believe me; I would not love somebody just to pass the time. I feel I have found my soul mate in you,' he replied as he sounded as an emotional poet.

'It can be lust not love. How can I be sure that it will not vanish soon? It is hard to keep the fire burning for a long time.' I tried to make harder for Sammy. It is difficult to know what happens in the brain when the person whom you love is around. It is complicated and I am sure no scientist can record its activity.

Continues........

Save Yamuna Ban Plastic Bags

SAY NO TO PLASTIC BAGS

Plastic does not dissolve; it breaks into tiny pieces, contaminates soil, waterways, sewage pipes, and enters oceans. It stays for many years and at its size, it is eaten by every single organism in the world’s oceans including the great Blue Whale. Plastic is durable, flexible and long lasting.
A number of countries have banned very thin plastic bags, including China, South Africa, Uganda and Bangladesh. Ireland introduced a charge of 15 euro cents per bag in 2002 which led to a 95% reduction in plastic bag use. Wales introduced six euro cents per bag and threatens shops with a 5000 euro fine. Belgium, Germany, Spain, Norway and the Netherlands are among the countries following Ireland’s lead. These decisions are boost for conservationists who have been fighting for years to reduce the huge volumes of devastating plastic litter harming the environment.
In Delhi ban on use of plastic bags has been imposed with fine of 10000 rupees on its sellers and storage. A previous effort in 2009 to introduce a partial ban on plastic bags in Delhi did not make much of an impact. No law whatsoever deterred people to use plastic bags and it is same for the shopkeepers. There are few big departmental stores have shifted to Jute bags or Paper bags. Plastic bags have polluted the river Yamuna most. Until and unless the ban is strictly implied, no means can save river Yamuna.

Lace Wedding Dress

Lace Wedding Dress

Bella Swan said in Twilight Saga, ’I was afraid to look into the mirror, and afraid of my image in mirror in a wedding dress.’ Perhaps she was not wearing a lace wedding dress as lace is big news this year in bridal industry!!! All wedding dresses are supposed to be extravagant and eye-catching. There are a variety of materials to choose. All brides-to-be experience the same joys and fears. They struggle to complete all list of tasks. Will the all important wedding dress suit her personality and attitude? Lace wedding dress certainly makes bride elegant. The lace wedding dress is always striking and having a good brand label on it, makes it envious.

Usually girls in teens and twenties, associate lace with grannies and consider it as old fashioned but the moment you step into a bridal store, you fall in love with the first lace wedding dress you see. Lace these days is a very fashionable material when it comes to making wedding gowns. It certainly has Victorian yet fashionable touch. It has come back in fashion. Why lace is popular among all brides can be discussed.

The wedding dress should flatter your figure. Lace is beautiful, delicate, elegant and classic. These are qualities to look for in a bridal outfit. The lace dress can be girly yet graceful, and fun yet formal. While sheer fabrics can have lumps, lace skims neatly over them. Lace smoothens and slim chubby brides but can also add bulk to skinny brides. The lace wedding dress has depth and texture. Lace details can be used on the waist or around the hem of the dress. Whether it is an entire lace wedding dress or simple lace dress, this fabric adds a touch of class to your bridal gown which can make it look expensive, even if it isn’t. There are a wide variety of lace styles available and lace wedding dress can have a vintage appearance. Brides have been wearing lace for many years and it doesn’t look set to go out of fashion just yet.  Re-embroidered floral designs are currently very popular. Overall, lace wedding dress makes a great theme. Next time you see a bride-to-be crying, remember she must have seen the fabulous lace wedding dress.

Acid attacks and Rapes: Not a country for Women

It is widely said, ‘Anger is a battery that leaks acid and loneliness becomes an acid that eats away at you.’ An acid attack is considered as a heinous crime like rape and is usually premeditated. In 90% cases, the jilted lover is behind it who could not take ‘No’ as answer for his marriage proposal or sexual advances. The person buys bottle of acid, stalks the victim and executes the act. Other than psychological trauma, it can result in permanent disfigurement of face, infections and blindness. Last year’s acid attack on a Lady Doctor in Delhi and acid attack on a ‘would be bride’ in Chandigarh; or a rape of a colleague by IIT Dean in Assam, all were result of illogical, fake honor and pride which was hurt.  It is generally considered that acid is thrown by a person, who carries primitive thinking and becomes so irrational in his behavior that he doesn’t experience flood of senses.

Senseless and heinous crimes like rapes and acid attack has no place in any society. In Asia, countries like Bangladesh, Cambodia, Pakistan and Iran remains the fort runners to be crowned as ‘Living hell for Women’. Recently, Afghanistan has entered the doomed list. Nevertheless, the women in these countries are worst sufferers of acid attacks and rapes. In India, Delhi has recorded whooping sixty cases of acid attacks in a quarter last year and a sharp rise in rape cases. It already has been crowned as ‘Rape Capital’ with women not finding enough courage to venture out alone in evening.  A very prominent online friendship site in Holland has warned its members to be careful while accepting requests from India and Pakistan. It has put both the countries in the category of “highly unsafe for women.” We owe this stigma to increased rape and acid attack cases. After Nirbhaya gang rape, Justice Verma committee suggested capital punishment to the accused in acid attack cases. This was not accepted by our law makers. However, as per new laws, the person who throws acid could get ten years to life term in a prison. Even though harsher laws have been placed for rapes and acid attacks, there seems to be little effect on rowdies. In a country where porn is available to a thirteen year old via mobiles and internet, buying bottle of acid is not a rocket science. The acid bottle primarily used as toilet cleaning liquid is easily available in any corner store as cheap as for rupee ten per bottle. The rule was implemented by Government of India, that to buy a bottle of acid, a person has to submit ID proof with the seller. However, this rule has been flushed in the toilet by the seller itself. This rule has no takers and there is no agency to keep a check on this. Person who plans to throw acid on his victim considers breaking this rule as his divine birthright. We, as a society have been shamed again and again by incidents of rapes and acid attacks. To some extent we also need to be sensitive to acid attack victims. Recently, a group of acid attack victims were sitting at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi to raise their voice for better medical facilities, rehabilitation and stern punishment to the accused. They were beaten up and locked up in police station as they tried to march towards Rashtrapati Bhawan. With the exception of few NGO’s, surprisingly, nobody stood for them. Delhi was expected to show little concern and support for them.

So what are the measures that can be taken to counter rise of acid attack cases. First things come first. There should be temporary cancellation of acid selling licenses for time being. No compromise on this!!! There should be restriction on sale of acid in open market and record of acid being sold in unauthorized colonies be maintained. The government should form a team which needs to keep a check on acid related activities in these colonies. There is a need of fast track courts and rehabilitation services for victims. Financial, medical and legal advice should be given to them on priority basis. The present we know is a movie of the past and there is an urgent need to control the present. The fear of law and punishment in record time is the key to end this menace.

Shame the Rapists

The unfortunate date of 16th December when our brave girl ‘Nirbhaya’ fought her tormentors is still fresh in all our memories. Even though she is not around, she can be called as a survivor. She survived the assault to tell the details of the torrid time to all of us. Her last wish was that the six demons be burned alive. But our law makers disappointed her and most of us to some extent. Not that they did not give capital punishment to the five of them; but that they did not reveal the full identity of the juvenile. True! You were bound by the laws which only punishes him for three years (which is the usual sentencing for extreme juvenile offenses).
