Ashley goes for DNA tests.......
The things were
different at Savita’s cabin as we used the stairs to reach her passing through the
stinking toilets and ammunition room of police station.
‘Look Ashley, I
insisted for an FIR because longer the delay, stronger is the suspicion. I
wanted to avoid the situation where we will have to give reasons in the courts for
any delay by the complainant. The defense counsel may bring out false
accusations theory against you,’
‘I understand that and I
believe you Savita,’ I agreed.
‘However, I’ll mention
your physical condition for the delay in the full statement,’
‘Thanks for your kind
concern,’ I obliged to Savita.
I had to answer few
“W’s” which were written on the FIR like
what happened, who committed the crime, on whom the crime was committed, when,
where, why, witnesses along with what was taken away and what traces were
printed by the accused in the house.
It was done in a very
professional manner and we drove off to the hospital for the all important DNA
tests.
‘Are you sure about the
doctor’s here?’ Sammy asked Savita as he looked wary of the hospital.
‘Of course, this is the
government hospital and the doctors are reliable,’ she nodded.
‘I need a bath
seriously,’ I said in a low voice.
‘No…no bath, please,
not before DNA tests,’ Savita said turning to me.
Once we reached there, I
took Sammy aside and gave him a small bag which had few garments of mine that I
picked up from my drawer.
‘These are few things
of mine and I need you to keep in your custody. I seriously need a bath soon.
I’m so much trouble to you,’
‘No, never, Not today
at least,’ Sammy replied as he looked straight into my eyes.
The nurse stopped in
the doorway as she held a pan of hot water, soap and a towel. The doctor
followed her and came straight to us accompanying Ajay. The nurse entered the
adjacent room meant for the examination and tests as Savita hovered around.
‘This is Dr Madhu, Sexual
Assault examiner, part of our team,’ Ajay said as he introduced her.
