Chapter Six....Ashley goes to Police Station for Statement....

The lock up was dingy and dark without any window for ventilation. One constable was sitting on the wooden bench and the board stating ‘Woman help desk’ was lying in dust next to him.

The things were different at officer’s cabin as we used the stairs to reach her passing through the stinking toilet. However, the ammunition room looked very much priority driven.
‘Hi, Ashley, how are you?’
‘I am not exactly sure but I guess I want to run from here quickly,’
‘I can't argue on that. Look, I insisted for quick FIR because longer the delay, stronger is the suspicion. I wanted to avoid the situation where we will have to give reasons in the courts for any delay by the complainant. The defense counsel may bring out false accusations theory against you,’
‘Believe me, I see it all the time,’ I agreed.
‘However, I’ll mention your physical and stressful condition for the delay in the full statement,’
‘Thanks for it.’ I obliged to Savita.
I had to answer few “W’s” which were written on the FIR like what happened, who committed the crime, on whom the crime was committed, when, where, why, witnesses along with what was taken away and what traces were printed by the accused in the house.
It was done in a very professional manner by Officer and we drove off to the hospital for all important DNA tests.
‘Are you sure about the doctor’s here?’ Sammy asked Savita as he looked unsure of the hospital.
‘Of course, this is government hospital and the doctors here are reliable,’ she nodded.
‘I need a bath seriously,’ I said in a low voice.
‘No…no bath, please, not before DNA tests,’ Savita said turning to me.
Once we reached there, I took Sammy aside and gave him a small bag which had few garments of mine that I picked up from my drawer.
‘These are few things of mine and I need you to keep in your custody. I seriously need a bath soon. I’m so much trouble to you,’
‘No, never, Not today at least,’ Sammy replied as he looked straight into my eyes.
